lately at night my thoughts are brought to the big bang, the galaxy as a whole, and how we as a society think we know much more then we really do.
what we can currently see is just a minute section of what is actually out there.
a person
our family
our town
our state / province
our country
our continent
our planet
our solar system
Our Galaxy (The Milky way)
Our Universe
Multiverse?
supposedly this all started with all matter packed extremely dense into on single point. or one place, before the existence of anything at all.
Lots of people have seen the power point demos, videos, and presentations of just how small we are in the larger sense when you compare our star (The Sun) to other stars, and our Milky way galaxy to other galaxies that we have observed.
All of this smashed into the one place no space, no time... just matter. often referred to as Time T=0
this suggests we are all here as a result of something out of nothing.
expanding universe theory
cyclicle universe (expanding an contracting)
All of this we think we know from what we have observed and measured. in the stars, through telescopes, etc..
Where I live in Texas the ground swells and shrinks with the seasons and i can easily observe and measure changes that take place in my own backyard. A simple example of this would be to go sink a stake in the ground at a random spot in the yard and take measurements form a corner of my house. From this I will find that the measurements will vary, possibly by season, and surely on a yearly time frame.
using this example I can learn a few things. and make some hypotheses from, but rather I like to raise more questions, did the stake move? did my starting point of my measurement (the corner of the house) move? Has there been an elevation change? how much did it rain this month / season / year.
will any of these questions lead me to a true cause of why the stake moved? most likely it's a combination of the all of the questions I have, and many more.... grass growth can move objects, etc...
The point in all this is that all of the measurement we take of the stars today as well as other objects in the sky that we observe.
The sum of all of this is that we DO NOT KNOW what is out there, and what is happening out there, or the cause of everything we observe today. No matter how much I measure, observer and find answers to quesitons there will always be something we did not observe, measure, calculate.
