Lamest Blogger ever

I really don't have anything to share with the multitude of people following this blog...  Obviously my definition of multitude is a little bit off.  so whatever, I may start to blog something or I may not either way who cares, right?

Sunday Pork extravaganza!

Happy Sunday, so today was heart attack Sunday and I decided to try to make a Bacon Explosion, In summer and in the pictures below you can see what the whole package looks like. Basically you basket weave a bunch of bacon, take your sausage of choice (mild italian, in my case) flatten it out into a square about the same size of the woven bacon. Cook up some sliced bacon and sprinke the cooked bacon over the sausage. I also added some onions and jalapenos on top of the sausage for a little spice and diffrerent flavor. Then you roll the sausage with topings into a loin shapped mass, after you roll the sausage you roll the woven bacon around the sausage. Keep in mind I threw some rub seasoning on each layor as well.

So without further adew, here are the pictures of our heart attack bacon explosion from today...

Here we ahve our completed monstrosity, alll rolled up and ready for the last bit of seasoning and headed for the grill.

After I finished grilling / smoking / slow cooking it for about 2 hours.

And here are the first three slices of this majestic pork filled product of much goodness!

If you want a more detailed description of the whole process with more pictures , you should check out this link http://www.bbqaddicts.com/blog/recipes/bacon-explosion/

later, (unless of course eating this thing kills me in my sleep tonight)...

Earth Hour 2009

Today is earth hour, so why is it such a big deal to try and coordinate one hour of time for everyone to shut their lights off? Why not do "earth hour" once a week? maybe its to much of an inconvenience for everyone to be without all of the conveniences they desire. right now my house has about a 1/2 dozen candles lit and the only electricity being pulled from the grid is from appliances that have clocks or otherwise lit LED lights, and of course the refrigerators . My laptop is currently running on battery power and when I'm done with this post it will be shut down for the remainder of the evening.

So as much as I might want to turn the boob tube on, or be your everyday average american and lazily watch nothing of importance, i'm going to go join my family playing some sharades in the dark...

take care,

A little bit of excitement today!

So its spring break, the kids are off and I'm running home at noon to make sure that Cora gets the correct amount of insulin for her lunch meal. She has type I diabetes and has to have a shot with every meal as well as at bed time. So today, the first day of spring break I come home at lunch time to make sure she gets the correct amount of insulin with lunch I tell her and her brother Danial that they should go enjoy the great weather were having.

Less than an hour after lunch I hear a knock at the door and a frantic child saying hurry! I get to the door and a neighbor child saying Cora fell and is hurt! I ran out to the culdesac and see her sitting up and telling me that she fell on her healey's onto her butt. I ask her to lay down and begin to question her about the fall. She is doing ok, breathing a bit shallow but overall ok. There is a complaint about her back, but seeing that she was sitting up when I got to her I think it must be minor. Finally I ask her if she can sit back up if it doesn't hurt to bad and she does, which doesn't suprise me. We go back to the house and I have her relax for a bit but the complaints about her back don't stop. So, no bruising or any signs of anything horrible I bring her to the urgent care center.

After a bit of a wait we get to see the nurse and then the doctor, the doctory orders X-rays and we are eventually relieved to find that she has a sprained / strained back. we get muscle relaxers and I pick up some pain medacation for her and we go back home.

the muscle relaxers obviously have an impact on how she feels as well as how she is acting. regardless to say, I 'm very happy that all of it turned out to be fairly minor!

so there you have it, another fun day at our house!

next time,
Dan

World Golf Championship quick hits.

Well , going into the fourth round it looks like it's a two horse race between Mickelson and Watney. Tiger is 9 back and that's probably insurmountable even for him if either Phil or Nick can post a halfway decent round today.

Update: 4:30 pm
Well Phil is at -20 through 11 and Nick is 1 back from hi. The leaders seem to be on their game today, and no one is even close to make a run, Justin Leonard is tied for 3rd currently 7 back from Phil so if lefty can maintain his composure for the last 7 holes he should walk away with a nice paycheck!

Update: 5:50 pm
The tournament is over and lefty was able to stay one ahead of Nick Watney for the win. Tiger snuck into the top 10 after 2 players couldn't finish strong as he was tied for the 11th spot when he was sitting in the clubhouse.

First Post!

Good Morning, First Post woohoo!!! So I'm not sure what all I'll be blogging about here, In all honesty I feel like a bit of a dork / nerd sitting here Sunday Morning on my computer trying to type something up good.

Topics I'll probably write about will include diabetes, food and cooking, survival stuff, sports, family, and i'm sure more as time goes on.

In any case, a little bit about myself and my family. I am Dan Blomberg and have a beautiful wife (Rene'e), and two great kids, Daniel V, and Cora. We live in Little Elm, Tx in a culdesac and have 3 dogs.
